Assignment of Responsibility for Short-Duration Voltage Variation via QGIS, OpenDSS and Python

One of the phenomena that most impacts the quality of electricity supply is the Short-Duration Voltage Variation (SDVV), which are phenomena manifested as voltage sag, swell, or even interruptions, which last up to 3 minutes. Despite its short duration, it affects the operation of loads, leading to production losses, for example. Thus, in this work, a strategy that identifies whether the SDVV phenomenon was produced upstream or downstream of a given common coupling point between two agents interconnected by a transformer is proposed. The methodology evaluates the propagation of voltage unbalance from the imposition of an SDVV using a short circuit, using the QGIS, OpenDSS and Python software. The tests were made in a real feeder for the validation of this methodology. The results show that the assignment of responsibility is not affected by changing the connection type for transformer winding, the resistance value of the fault, or adding a distributed generation (DG).
