Modeling Humidity and Temperature Effects on Electrochemical Gas Sensors at Low Concentrations

In this study, we present a specific tailored model for NO
2
electrochemical sensors designed to improve their understanding and the calibration accuracy on low NO
2
concentration levels. We model transient effects, steady-state behaviors, and sensor exposure to target compounds, all while accounting for the influence of external factors such as humidity and temperature. The proposed model aims to compensate for environmental variations (temperature and humidity) to enable more precise estimation of NO
2
in ppb range with application to air quality monitoring. The model has been evaluated for measuring NO
2
in a urban areas with low concentration levels, showcasing its potential to significantly improve calibration accuracy in environmental monitoring applications.
