Continuous Scanning Hyperspectral Confocal Microscope with Broadband Light Source

The development trend of various optical instruments such as micro-spectrophotometry, hyperspectral imagers, and laser scanning confocal microscopes is the pursuit of ultra-broadband, high spatial resolution, multi-wavelength images, and high scanning rates. However, the development of these optical instruments is limited by the large dispersion of refractive optic elements. In recent years, reflective optical elements have become more attractive for such applications due to various ultra-precision machining techniques. We propose a study detailing the development of ultra-spectral confocal microscopy utilizing supercontinuum lasers and exploring its applications across 1D, 2D, and 3D domains. Designed to be the platform of choice for researchers in the 400 to 1700 nm range, the instrument seamlessly integrates the many benefits of four previous optical detection instruments. In addition, this study uses a different scanning logic of the LabViewprogram interface from the previous one, allowing the system to optimize the movement of the stepper motor while maintaining measurement accuracy, and developing a continuous scanning system. The system scan time has been optimized and is approximately 3.5 times faster than previous scan times, greatly enhancing the system's application possibilities in industrial applications requiring repeated inspections.
