A 5GHz Gain-Bandwidth Op-Amp in 180nm CMOS Technology

This paper introduces a meticulously designed single-stage operational amplifier (op-amp) utilizing GPDK 180nm CMOS technology. Operating at a 1.8V power supply, the op-amp achieves an exceptional 5GHz Gain Bandwidth Product (GBW) when faced with a 40 fF load capacitance, catering to the demands of applications like bandpass filtering and Wi-Fi technology. Employing the gm/ld methodology, the op-amp strikes a precise balance between precision and performance, accommodating functions ranging from DC bias generation to high-speed amplification. Rigorous simulations using Cadence Virtuoso validate the op-amp's adherence to specifications, affirming its efficacy in telecommunications, computers, and consumer electronics. This research presents a versatile op-amp design poised to contribute significantly to advancing technologies in various industries, combining technical excellence with adaptability for a broad range of applications.
