Analyzing Software Tools to Assess Optimal Variant of Energy Store

Energy storage systems (ESSs) are a key component of a power system that can serve as a means to reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency and sustainability of renewable energy sources. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate open source software tools, in particular Python-based ones, to evaluate the most suitable energy storage solutions regarding economic and technical parameters. PyPSA (Python for Power System Analysis) is a free software tool that has proven to be a versatile and powerful tool for modeling, simulating, and optimizing modern power systems, integrating renewables, and evaluating energy storage systems. Its open source nature, along with its comprehensive documentation and support, has facilitated its application in a variety of real-world applications and case studies around the world.
