Closed Loop Control of Three Level NPC Induction Motor Drive for Water Pumping Application

Induction motor drives are significantly more affordable and reliable than traditional motor drives which are used in water pumping application. In this paper a full induction motor drive is constructed with a sinusoidal pulse width modulation fed multilevel inverter modulation method for pumping applications. These inverters are the industry standard for use in high voltage and power applications because they can transmit significant power without endangering machinery. An analysis of a conventional Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) multilevel inverter with five levels is also included in this study. A three level Space Vector Modulation is used to feed this inverter to an induction motor for a water pumping application. Pump Load is represented mathematically and observed its performance.
