A Low-RCS and High-Gain Fabry-Pérot Antenna Based on Hybrid Absorptive-Diffusive Metasurface

A new design of high-gain Fabry-Perot (F -P) antenna using the hybrid absorptive-diffusive metasurface with low radar cross section (RCS) is proposed in this article. When the electromagnetic wave is incident from the +z direction, the metasurface achieves microwave absorption at low frequencies band and diffusion at high frequencies band. At the same time, the band stop FSS begins to work when the incident wave comes from the -
$z$
direction. Hence, the combination of the metasurface and band-stop FSS can also work as the partially reflecting surface (PRS). A simple microstrip patch antenna which can work as the reflecting screen (RS) is also used as the radiation source of the overall antenna to form the Fabry-Perot cavity. Finally, the peak gain of the overall antenna realizes 18.2 dBi and RCS reduction (RCSR) > 5 dB without the help of the matched load in the range of 2.9-13 GHz.
