A Method for Measuring and Correcting the Error Vector Amplitude of W-Band Communication Signals in Guided-Wave Links

The Error Vector Amplitude (EVM) is a crucial parameter that characterises the transmission quality of communication signals. Currently, research institutions both at home and abroad have identified the accurate measurement of the EVM parameter of high-frequency broadband communication signals and the calibration of related measurement instruments as a key area of interest. This paper innovatively proposes a measurement method for EVM parameters of 75GHz-110GHz modulated signals based on electro-optical sampling technology. Measurements indicate that the least EVM of W-band modulated signals, produced through instrumentation and RF device simulation in a guided-wave link, is approximately 26% @ 1GBaud. To solve the time base drift problem, the pilot signal was added and the EVM was reduced to 11% @ 1GBaud. The experiment proved the feasibility of this measurement method.
