A Broadband Hybrid-Embedded EBG Structure for Suppressing Simultaneous Switching Noise

Simultaneous switching noise (SSN) poses a significant challenge in systems containing high-speed digital circuits, and electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) technology stands out as an effective means of mitigating SSN. This paper proposes a novel structure based on a planar EBG power plane to achieve ultra-wideband suppression of SSN. The designed EBG plane structure combines a meander bridge with a complementary open ring resonator (CSRR) and a slit EBG configuration. Simulation results demonstrate that the designed EBG structure achieves SSN rejection of -40 dB from the broadband range of 320 MHz to 30 GHz. Compared to previously reported structures, the efficacy of suppression has been markedly enhanced.
