Bistatic RCS Estimation Using Monostatic Scattering Centers with Near-Field ISAR Imaging

In this paper, a new technique is investigated to achieve the extraction of the target bistatic radar cross section (RCS) from monostatic backscattered field data using Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imaging and equivalent scattering center extraction (ESCE) technique. Under the high-frequency assumption, the target bistatic RCS can be obtained for a specific case based on the positional relationship among the transmitter, receiver, and equivalent scattering centers, then compensating for the phase difference in the bistatic condition. The accuracy of the proposed monostatic to bistatic conversion technique is verified in conjunction with a numerical example of actual measurements in an anechoic chamber.
