A Multi-State X-Band Planar Inverted-F Antenna based on Printed Meandered Line Elements

A multi-state planar inverted-f antenna (PIFA) employing printed meandered line elements, with an adjustable operating frequency range within the X-band is presented in this work. The antenna consists of two main components: a printed circuit board (PCB) and a metallic back cavity. The primary radiating element consists of copper traces forming meandered lines on the PCB. To ensure the proper function of the antenna, the PCB and metallic back cavity are processed, assembled, and subjected to thorough measurements. The measurement results shows that the antenna proposed in this paper can cover the X-band in different states, exhibiting a unidirectional radiation patterns. The design can be a promising candidate for satellite applications.
