Design of a Broadband RF Front End

In this article, a broadband RF front end covers from 2GHz to 12GHz, with rejection off the center frequency 1GHz greater than 50dBc and noise figure less than 5dB is proposed. The gain of the whole module is about 35±1.5 dB and the anti CW burn out power is about 5W. The design works of this RF front end module contains the design of a wide band pass filter, the design of a PIN diode limiter, the selection of a Low noise amplifier and a digital attenuation with maximum attenuation up to 50 dB, temperature compensated attenuator and an equalizer. The module is designed by the hybrids integrated technology and very convenient to mass production. At last, the whole size of the module is about 96 mm × 58 mm × 18 mm.
