A Structurally Integrated Design of the Dielectric Flange and Millimeter-Wave Dielectric Rod Antenna

A structurally integrated design of the dielectric flange and dielectric rod antenna (DRA) is designed in millimeter-wave band in this paper. A dielectric flange is introduced based on the conventional dielectric rod structure. It has the same area as the metal flange so that the whole structure can be directly fixed with the metal flange. The structure is more stable while retaining the high orientation of the traditional dielectric rod. Simulated results show that an impedance bandwidth of 26.5-30.5 GHz for S11<-10 dB is obtained with end-fire performance. The possibility of constructing antenna arrays with this structure is verified.
