Study on Terrestrial and Air-to-Ground Channels for High-Speed Train Scenario

The unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are aerial communication nodes on high altitude platform station for connecting terrestrial and non-terrestrial network. It is essential to establish a reliable connection between the UAV and the terrestrial devices. To inspect the characteristics of different communication networks, we construct a scenario where a high-speed train traveling along tracks and conduct channel modeling for Air-to-Ground (A2G) channel and Terrestrial channel using ray tracing method. In this paper, the differences of channel characteristics such as path loss, shadow fading, delay spread, and angular spread between A2G channel and Terrestrial channel are presented, which can provide certain value for reference to future communications network.
