Simulation of Lightning Induced Current of Composite Fuel Tank Tubes

The induced current of aircraft fuel tank tubes under lightning conditions is an important indicator for designing fuel tank systems. The tubes' induced current of composite fuel tanks is significantly higher than that of metal fuel tanks, and corresponding protective measures need to be added. In the past, lightning simulation calculations mainly focused on the direction of cable induced current or structural electric heating, with less application in tube current. This article simplifies the tubes as cables, uses traditional electromagnetic simulation software to calculate the induced current of the tubes, and verifies the effectiveness of protective measures through simulation. The conductivity of fuel tank panels and resistance of tubes are simulated to verify their influence on lightning induced current, which provide technical guidance for the layout of composite fuel tanks and tubes, with high engineering value.
