Analysis and LEDs Illumination Using Wi-Fi Tethering of Novel Crossed Dipole Rectenna Array

This study proposes a novel cross-dipole type rectenna array that utilizes the lead wires of two LEDs and rectifying diodes as half-wavelength dipole antennas for horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. The 10 rectenna elements are arranged with a spacing of 15 mm, and the wireless power transmission efficiency is evaluated for each rectenna acting as a receiving element. Results reveal that the wireless power transmission efficiency gradually decreases as the distance between them increases without the arrayed rectennas between the transmitting and receiving elements. However, the wireless power transmission efficiency remains nearly constant even with an increased distance between the transmitting and receiving elements with the rectennas arranged in an array. Furthermore, experiments using leaking waves from a microwave oven demonstrate the ability to simultaneously illuminate 16 LEDs with a distance of 105 mm from the wave source to the most distant element. Additionally, successful activation of LEDs on rectennas located 150 mm away from the wave source is achieved when the array of cross-dipole type rectennas is used for radio waves generated by Wi-Fi tethering mode.
