Wearable Electromagnetic Halbach Array for Wirelessly Charging Implantable Biomedical Devices

This paper presents a wearable hexagon-shaped Electromagnetic Halbach Array designed for wirelessly charging implantable biomedical devices. The coils are made of liz wires and the transmitting coil is sewn onto the canvas fabric to make it more wearable. Through electromagnetic simulations and experimental investigations, the effectiveness of wireless power transmission has been demonstrated. A fully integrated EHA wireless power transfer system including coils and its tuning capacitors has been investigated. The test was carried out in both air and saline environment. Experimentally, it was found that the proposed system can transmit a maximum of 1.8W and 1.59W of power in the air and saline, respectively, with a maximum efficiency of 1.35% and 1.19%, respectively.
