MIMO-DWPT With Active Reflection Canceller

WPT (Wireless Power Transmission) is attracting attention as a technology for reducing the battery weight of electric vehicles (EVs) and suppressing the peak power demand. To improve the transmission efficiency of wireless power transmission (WPT) in EVs, we focus on multi-input multi-output WPT (MIMO-WPT) using multiple transmitting and receiving coils. In this paper, we propose a method to cancel reflected waves that cause degradation of transmission efficiency by controlling the amplitude and phase of the RF power supply connected to the MIMO-WPT system using S-parameters without considering inter-coil coupling due to impedance matching. Electromagnetic field simulation results show that the proposed method can improve efficiency by about 60% compared to the conventional method when the air gap is 10mm.
