Calorimetric Measurement of Losses in Nanocrystalline Cores

Inductive power transfer (IPT) power density requirements have risen in recent years due to increased adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Nanocrystalline cores have been proposed to improve power density of IPT pads because of their higher saturation limits and Curie temperatures compared to Mn- Zn ferrites. This article demonstrates a method of core-loss measurement that accounts for the anisotropic behaviour of nanocrystalline ribbons using calorimetric methods.
