Optimal Power Allocation of Receiving Antenna for Rectification Efficiency Improvement in Wireless Power Transfer System

In the planar array-based wireless power transfer (WPT) system, the rectifier array suffers from low efficiency when the receiving antenna is under Gaussian radiation. In this brief, an optimal power allocation mechanism of the receiving antenna to improve the rectification efficiency is proposed. To achieve this, the Gaussian radiation is quantified to guide the search algorithm design for the optimal power allocation. Then, a time-saving search algorithm suitable for both odd and even arrays is proposed. Finally, the experimental results show that the proposed allocation mechanism can not only improve the efficiency of the rectifier array, but also reduce the number of rectifiers for the hardware simplification and cost reduction.
