Novel High-Affinity Peptides Selected by Phage Display for Selective Detection of Aromatic VOCs

in an effort to bridge the gap between the extraordinary capabilities of the biological sense of smell and the Surface Plasmon Resonance Imaging (SPRI)-based optoelectronic nose (opto-eN), novel high-affinity peptides were selected through phage display for the selective detection and discrimination of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) belonging to the BTEX family (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene). Herein, we demonstrate the high selectivity of developed peptides through the reliable detection and discrimination of VOCs with similar chemical structure, including isomers, thereby further improving the performance of the opto-eN.
