The Impact of Solvent on Enhancing Efficiency in PBDB-T-2F:Y6-O Non-Fullerene Organic Solar Cells

In the present work, we fabricated conventional-structure organic solar cells (OSCs) based on PBDB-T-2F (donor):Y6-O (non-fullerene acceptor) with an ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PBDB-T-2F:Y6-O/PDINO/Ag architecture. We investigated the effects of chlorobenzene and chloroform solvents on the performance of these fabricated NF-OSCs. We found that using chloroform (CF) in the active blend solution enhanced the performance of the devices. The results showed significant improvements in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and the generated current density (J
SC
) with increases of fourfold and threefold, respectively, for the devices fabricated using CF. An efficiency of 12.36% was achieved for the NF-OSCs with an active blend solution temperature of 50 °C in CF.
