Improving the Power Quality at the Input of a Solid-State Transformer Using a Power Factor Correction

The article is devoted to the study of work to improve the quality of electricity of a power factor correction as part of a single-phase three-stage solid-state transformer. The choice of power factor correction is given. A mathematical description of the operation of a power factor correction with a diode bridge is given. The article provides formulas for calculating the elements the elements of the power factor correction. A description of the control system configured for continuous current mode is given. A simulation model of the power factor correction was built in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The simulation results are presented in the form of graphs of input and output currents, voltage and power. Static and dynamic indicators of the control system quality are determined. It has been proven that the designed power factor correction allows for stable output voltage and sinusoidal input voltage under significant load changes. Electric power quality indicators, such as harmonic distortion coefficient and power factor, have been determined.
