The Influence of Ambient Temperature on the Functioning of a Photovoltaic Installation in the Northern Part of the Russian Far East

The purpose of the study is to determine the influence of low and high ambient temperatures on the functioning of a photovoltaic (PV) installation, providing graphic interpretations and patterns. The regularities for determining the average statistical indicators of reducing and increasing the electrical energy efficiency PV panel for a certain range of ambient temperatures are used. These studies were carried out during the winter period of 2021 at the materials science laboratory of the Institute of Physical and Technical Problems of the North SB RAS using a stationary climate chamber. Control parameters for changing power generation from PV panel (in the temperature range from −60°C to +60°C) were obtained, which can be used in modeling operational processes and engineering calculations of operating modes of solar power plants. It was revealed that at the same illumination levels and ambient temperature −60°C, PV panel generates maximum energy and minimum energy at a temperature of +60°C; the decrease in specific power at this temperature range was 19%. A significant reduction in the specific PV panel is achieved at temperatures from + 30°C or more due to an increase in the internal resistance of the installation. At temperatures below −40°C, a slight increase in the specific power is achieved due to a decrease in the internal resistance PV panel.
