Solving the Inverse Heat Conduction Problem for Accurate Simulation of High-Temperature Processes

An algorithm has been developed for the numerical solution of the inverse heat conduction problem, which allows improving the thermophysical properties of materials in models of high-temperature technological processes. The developed algorithm uses the Levenberg-Marquardt method for restoring coefficients and computational procedures from the library of SciLab program for matrix calculations. The algorithm has been tested for simulation of casting technology, when an aluminum alloy solidifies in a sand mold made by 3D printing. The casting technology was simulated using the LVMFlow program, where the direct heat conduction problem was solved and the thermophysical properties of the 3D-printed sand mold turned out to be uncertain. The necessary material properties of the 3D-printed sand mold were restored by solving the inverse heat conduction problem.
