Structure and Sizing Optimization of a Multi-Energy System with Local Energy Sources

This paper considers the structure and sizing optimization problem of an enterprise's multi-energy system comprising local energy generators, transformers, and storage devices. To compare the variants when solving the structure and sizing optimization problem, the problem of optimal energy consumption scheduling was solved. For solving the optimal energy consumption scheduling problem, the authors applied an approach that allowed accounting for the relationships between the electric, heat, and other load profiles. To model the interconnections between energy networks, the authors used the energy hub concept, and the optimal energy consumption scheduling problem was formulated using a model based on power flows. When solving the structure and sizing optimization problem, the authors considered various variants for energy supply to the enterprise. The most attractive variants in terms of daily energy costs included the ones that involved natural gas-powered generators, such as gas turbines and co-generation units.
