Methods for Converting and Dividing a 3D Model into Layers for Additive Manufacturing

3D printers are best suited for single production of products according to individual orders. However, before printing, the product must first be prepared: create a 3D model of it and develop a production program based on it. It is this process that is a lot of monotonous work. The article deals with the problem of the complexity and duration of preparing models for 3D printing. In order to simplify and accelerate this time-consuming process, a cloud server based on a micro-service architecture is proposed, which generates a G-code for the production of a product based on its 3D model. The features of the service's work with various 3D model formats and ways of converting them are described, as well as the method of connecting and exchanging data over a socket between the microservice and the CuraEngine engine.
