Segmentation of Ultrasound Images for the Detection of Breast Nodules

The importance of early detection of breast abnormalities, with a special focus on nodules, has been demonstrated in order to effectively combat breast cancer, one of the main causes of global mortality. The implementation of a collaborative system, working as an aid to diagnosis through ultrasound examinations, aims to improve the effectiveness of diagnosis, allowing early treatment and reducing adverse events. The system uses techniques from binarization, processing, including a filter to minimize speckle noise and improve image sharpness, and calculations, in order to obtain effective identification. In segmentation, after obtaining a binary image, it is subdivided into meaningful regions for detailed analysis and understanding of the scene. In order to identify the nodule effectively and safely.
