Electronically Controlled 1-Bit Reconfigurable Broadband Circular-Polarized Reflective Metasurface

This paper proposes an electrically controlled, broadband, 1-bit circular-polarized reconfigurable reflective metasurface. By altering the feeding state of the active elements, the equivalent structure is changed, resulting in a 1-bit circular-polarized phase difference. The element has a stable 180° phase shift and a good reflection coefficient in the range of 6.82-9.96GHz (37% relative bandwidth). The fabricated 8×8 metasurface sample achieves circular-polarized wave control at least from 7.4 to 9.9GHz. The proposed reconfigurable metasurface provides a promising application for electromagnetic wave manipulation.
