Space-Long Term-Range Joint Processing Method for MIMO Radar

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) radar, as a new regime radar, has waveform diversity characteristics, which gives it a higher degree of freedom. However, this also leads to more difficult suppression of angular and distance sidelobes, and a longer pulse accumulation time is required to obtain the same gain as that of a phased array. To address the above problems, this letter proposes a Space-Long Term-Range Joint Processing (SLTRJP) method by combining the space, distance and long-term dimensions to realize the joint processing on the target, which integrates space (azimuth-elevation)-range adaptive focusing and long term accumulation. The experimental results show that the proposed method can be able to better suppress the multi-dimensional sidelobes, and overcome the problem of distance migration to achieve long-term accumulation, which is superior to the traditional cascaded method.
