From Assembly Drawing to Virtual Model: Manufacturing Technologies in Engineering Education

The work demonstrates the possibilities of utilizing visualization of a digital model in the educational process of higher education in the training of engineers. As part of an educational design bureau, based on an assembly drawing, students need to develop an electronic model of a technical product, parameterize and visualize it, and prepare design documentation. The presentation of the project is carried out in a virtual reality system. Product design is carried out in T-FLEX CAD. This program is a professional design system for 2D and 3D modeling and is included in the package of the Russian PLM information system. Analysis of the content and effectiveness of educational activities on three-dimensional visualization of digital models, performed during group work, updates a number of traditional knowledge, skills and abilities for a qualified engineer. In the process of work, competencies of an advanced, innovative nature are also formed, related to both the professional and communicative spheres.
