The Role of YouTube in Country Studies Teaching to Technical Students

The article researches the use of YouTube in teaching country studies aspects to technical students. In fact, there are a lot of different online resources to study and teach, but Youtube is the most popular and technically advanced video hosting service. In this research several YouTube channels in English, Russian and German are investigated and compared. These are independent channels, created by journalists and enthusiasts and not by big networks like BBC, Discovery channel etc. All the analysed channels deal with historical, cultural and social aspects of the world. In the end, this paper highlights advantages and disadvantages of using YouTube in teaching/studying country studies.
