Conversational Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace: Analysing the impact of ChatGPT on Users’ Perceived Self-efficacy

The prevalence of conversational artificial intelligence platforms, like ChatGPT, in the workplace highlights the necessity of a complete understanding of their impact on employee performance, learning, and usage factors. This study throws light on the causes and effects of workers using ChatGPT and based on a sample size of 356 employees from the IT industry,in the age range 25 to 50. The study uses Social Cognitive Theory and Structural equation modelling (SEM), which provides a trustworthy understanding of the interactions between variables. The study unveils a strong positive correlation between employees' perceived self-efficacy and their perceived IQ, stereotype perceptions, and ChatGPT self-learning. The outcome of the study backs the use of ChatGPT in the workplace. The relationship between perceived self-efficacy and actual ChatGPT usage at work was shown to be considerably moderated by job anxiety. Hence, the research offers a clearer understanding of conversational AI platforms, like ChatGPT, increases employee productivity. The outcomes of the study have several implications for ChatGPT developers, educators, and academic institutions, and they provide insights for increasing ChatGPT usage. It also provides practitioners with valuable guidance on how to successfully employ these technologies.
