IoT Enabled Micro Mobility Vehicle With Fault Determination

In addressing the persistent challenge of first and last-mile connectivity in India’s major cities, a key obstacle to sustainable public transport adoption is the lack of real-time information for fleet operators. While efforts have been made to enhance public transport, existing solutions suffer from a deficiency in immediate issue resolution. To bridge this gap, a proposed system incorporates Internet of Things (IoT) technology to provide real-time data to fleet operators. This data, weighted based on the sensitivity of potential breakdown causes such as wiring, battery, or tire pressure, is used to calculate a fault value for each vehicle. In case the fault value exceeds a predetermined threshold, the operator can promptly address the issue, ensuring minimal downtime. Furthermore, users attempting to access a vehicle with a fault value surpassing the threshold are warned, enhancing overall customer satisfaction and experience. The study finds that 95.5 percent of trips had no fault, while 2 percent of trips had fault value of 1 and 1.25 percent of trips had fault value of 2&3 each. It was also found that the average distance for fault occurrence of values 0,1,2 and 3 were 3.4, 2.8, 4.0 and 3.8 kms respectively.
