A Mapping and Monitoring Platform for Mobile Robots

The rapid development of technology has led to the widespread production of low-cost, high-computing mobile robots that have many applications in transport objects, healthcare, and agriculture. Using their sensors, mobile robots can navigate environments, detect obstacles, and create a map of the environment. Controlling a swarm of mobile robots from a single platform can improve the efficiency and usability of robots in different applications. In this paper, we present a multi robot controlling system for monitoring the mobile robots and mapping the environment. The proposed platform provides high-level functions for mapping and path planning applications which facilitate the interaction with underlying sensors and hardware. Using this platform, complex mapping and path planning algorithms can be implemented more efficiently on mobile robots. We evaluated the proposed platform by implementing a mapping and path-planning algorithm on a test bed of mobile robots.
