LDACS End-to-End ATN/IPS Performance

This paper conducts an evaluation of the performance and quality of service of the Aeronautical Telecommunications Network/Internet Protocol Suite (ATN/IPS) when implemented over the L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System (LDACS). The evaluation is based on measurements gathered from a laboratory test-bed. The study measures key parameters such as latency, throughput, and packet loss for LDACS’s forward and reverse links under various load scenarios. It further investigates the impact of LDACS’s quality of service and priority handling on different traffic classes. The findings demonstrate that the combination of LDACS and ATN/IPS can effectively support safety-critical air traffic management applications.
