Duty Cycle Study of a Non ideal DC DC Boost Converter for a Solar Photovoltaic System

This work presents a duty cycle study of a non-ideal DC-DC boost converter designed for photovoltaic (PV) systems. Indeed, converter parameters are investigated considering different parasitic elements such as equivalent series resistance (ESR) as well as voltage drops. Additionally, a simulation study is conducted by using MATLAB Simulink to evaluate the impact of the parasitic elements on both voltage gain and conversion efficiency. In fact, the voltage gain and efficiency versus duty cycle are illustrated for several values of each parasitic element. The simulation results show a significant effect of these elements on the designed boost DC-DC converter performance.
