Comparative Study Between DPC-SVM and Conventional DPC for 5 MW Wind Conversion Chain Connected to the Grid

This paper introduces comparative analysis of two control strategies for a three-phase inverter integrated into a wind power conversion system connected with the grid. The two examined strategies are Classical Power Direct Control and Spatial Vector Modulation-based Power Direct Control. Both methods rely on instantaneous control of both active and reactive power, in the first strategy, power control is achieved by directly selecting the optimal inverter switching state using a switching table. However, this strategy has drawbacks such as variable switching frequency and notable power ripples stemming from the utilization of hysteresis comparators. To address this issue, these limitations and ensure sinusoidal line currents, the second strategy is proposed. This method eliminates the need for a switching table and reduces power ripples by employing standard PI controllers instead of hysteresis comparators. Theoretical analyses with numerical simulations using Matlab/Simulink are conducted to shed light on the most relevant strategy.
