Electromotive Force Spectrum Analysis of SPMSM Under Demagnetization Faults

Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), have emerged as one of the contemporary drive systems key elements. So, numerous studies have been conducted recently on motor faults diagnosis and condition monitoring. This article investigates the partial and uniform demagnetization fault in Interior PMSM by jointly applying 2D- Finite Element method (FEM) and Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) analysis. The electromagnetic field distribution, air-gap magnetic flux density, Electromotive Forces (EMF) and electromagnetic torque under healthy and demagnetized magnets have been investigated. Meanwhile, the EMF spectrum is examined using FFT analysis in order to export the harmonics relevant to the fault. The healthy and faulty motor is inspected under two demagnetization severities degrees (25% and 75 %). According to the findings, new harmonics in EMF spectrum are caused by demagnetization faults. This distinctive harmonic, can be used as demagnetization fault signatures to determine the severity degree.
