Control and Energy Management Based on Decoupling Frequency of DC Microgrid

In this research, a new simplified energy management technique for a DC microgrid-based hybrid energy storage system (HESS) is presented. In the proposed technique, supercapacitors (SC) are employed to balance the quick and sudden power fluctuation and the short term, while batteries are employed to balance the slow-changing power and the long term. The major benefit of the suggested control technique is that through directing power surges to the supercapacitor system, the deferred reaction of the battery bank, involving dynamics of battery, regulator, and converter operation, is prevented. In order to increase battery life and decrease current stresses on the battery storage, the suggested approach involves charge/discharge rate regulation. The suggested technique is less computationally intensive since it employs a simple method of control. The comprehensive experimental findings verify the suggested control approach for real change situations in irradiation and temperature and load demand.
