Electronic Transport in a Cylindrical Nanowire GaAs and AlGaAs

The present study investigates electronic transport through a nanowire cell using the transfer matrix method (TMM). This cell consists of two layers: a cylindrical GaAs semiconductor quantum wire in one layer and an AlGaAs semiconductor quantum wire in the other, both sandwiched between two semi-infinite media (substrates) comparable to each other. The results showed that the energy levels of the band structure and transmission spectrum decrease and move to lower energies as the radius of the quantum wire increases. These energy levels depend on various system parameters, including quantum wire length and aluminum mole fraction. Electron waves appear due to a known value of critical radius (R
c
), below which they cannot propagate. The electrical characteristics of cylindrical nanowires have been studied both theoretically and analytically. The results are astounding and can be used to improve the design of these materials for future use.
