Colorimetric Bubble Sensors Tailored for Temperature Measurements

An innovative method for temperature monitoring in various areas involves the characterization of a sensor consisting of a bubble coated with thermochromic paint. This innovation has considerable advantages in sites where the sensor cannot be powered and is therefore particularly cost-effective. The study focuses on the sensor's characterization through the analysis of the thermochromic paint's color variations when subjected to temperature changes. It can be done through measurements made using the spectroradiometer, an instrument that makes non-contact measurements and gives results in CIELAB space color coordinates
$(L^{*},\ a^{*},\ b^{*})$
and
$(L^{*},c*, h)$
. The suitability of the proposed principle will be demonstrated here, showing that it is possible to quantify color changes in the bubble sensor as temperature varies using chromatic color coordinates.
