Modeling and Simulation of Three-Phase Squirrel Cage Induction Machine for Broken Rotor Bars Diagnostics

The rotor bars problem in a cage induction machine arises due to the degradation and breakage of the bars that form the motor rotor due to overheating, vibration, and mechanical constraints. When rotor bars are damaged, the electrical and mechanical performances of the motor are adversely affected, resulting in poor motor response characterized by anomalies in current consumption and oscillations in rotational speed and electromagnetic torque. This research focuses on conceptualizing and implementing a comprehensive model designed to simulate and analyze the diverse repercussions associated with rotor bars breakage of a three-phase squirrel cage induction machine. The primary objective is to develop an in-depth knowledge of such incidents' intricate dynamics and consequences. This understanding will facilitate a more nuanced approach towards predictive maintenance, fault detection, and enhancing overall system reliability.
