Design of an Indoor Illumination Automatic Adjustment System based on Fuzzy PID Control

Timely adjusting the brightness of indoor lighting equipment as the outdoor light intensity changes can not only improve the efficiency of equipment use and enhance user comfort, but also avoid causing energy waste. However, traditional lighting adjustment methods do not fully consider the impact of outdoor light intensity changes on indoor lighting, which leads to unsatisfactory lighting effects and a significant waste of resources. This paper proposes a method of indoor illumination adjustment based on fuzzy PID control algorithm, which can significantly solve the above problems. n the hardware part of the system, a high-performance Arduino microcontroller is used as the core controller. The indoor light intensity is detected in real time by the light sensor, and the brightness of the lighting equipment is adjusted by sending a PWM pulse width modulation signal through the microcontroller. Users can remotely control the turning on or off of lighting devices from the mobile phone client. The MATLAB/Simulink simulation of the lighting system shows that compared to traditional PID control, fuzzy PID control has significant improvements in response time and overshoot, which proves that using fuzzy PID controller to adjust indoor lighting brightness can achieve satisfactory results.
