Robust Fault Detection based on Functional Interval Observers for Multivariable Systems

A robust fault detection based on functional interval observers for continuous-time multivari-able linear systems affected by sensor fault, unknown but bounded disturbance, and measurement noise is designed in this paper. An
$\mathrm{H}_{\infty}$
formalism is applied to guarantee the stability of the proposed observer and ensure the residual performance to avoid false alarms by solving Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Then, a fault detection decision is defined to identify the presence of faults. Finally, a numerical example is used to validate the proposed methodology.
