A Compact Dual-Port Filtenna with Optimized Double Square Dumbbell Etching for Microwave Communication Systems

This paper proposes a novel dual-port filtenna design using Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology. The filtenna also known as a filtering antenna is a compact structure where the filtering function of a filtering circuit is integrated into the antenna design which offers significant advantages for microwave communication systems. One important design element that affects the filtenna's functioning is a double square dumbbell etching on the top metal layer. The improved signal processing, isolation, and flexibility are made possible in this design. The filtenna's radiation characteristics make it suitable for applications that require space efficiency and frequency selectivity.
