QGIS based Detecting and Locating the Shortest Path for Emergency Services

The post pandemic era has started with climate crisis, natural disasters, wars and conflicts in various parts of the world. The current situation calls for not only better emergency services but also easier location and access to them GIS is a system that creates, manages, analyzes, and maps all types of data. GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data (emergency services) with all types of descriptive information (kind of emergency services). This provides a foundation for mapping and analysis that is used in science and almost every satellite mapping-based industry. Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a geographic information system software that is free and open-source. It allows users to analyze and edit spatial information. It is also used in composing and exporting graphical maps. The paper explores implementation of GIS, to identify, locate and find the shortest path to various kinds of emergency services in a selected area. Emergency services like hospitals, fire stations and police stations located in Tamil Nadu (southern India) shall be identified and the shortest path between them and from various points shall be identified using Google maps as the base map.
