Performance Evaluation of a Hysteresis-Controlled Smart Grid System Using a Flying Capacitor Boost Converter

The output voltage of a single-phase flying capacitor clamped boost converter cascade filters and inverters can be increased to improve dynamic response. Lower total harmonic distortion is the result of managing the de-link voltages asymmetrically for both symmetrical and asymmetrical capacitor-clamped boost converters and inverters in an FCC-BC inverter grid connected DC-AC converter study. The circuit described is used to experiment with two different control techniques: PI and HC, which are shown to be comparable in performance. A promising combination of a single-phase FCC-BC and a DC-AC converter that reduces current harmonics while improving voltage management is concluded as an option for power conversion use in household photovoltaic (PV) applications.
