User-Centric Mechanical Ventilation: A Simulation Approach for Optimal Energy Usage

The energy consumption of mechanical ventilation in air conditioning space is expected to increase in the future, but currently, there is no research indicating the required energy consumption for different orientations and occupant numbers. Therefore, this study utilizes simulation to determine which orientation provides better energy-saving results during different seasons. Ultimately, the results demonstrate that facing north leads to lower energy consumption. The energy consumption in different orientations can be reduced by 6% in summer and 20% in winter per month. Furthermore, upon deeper investigation, we conclude that each additional person and computer in summer requires an increase of 48.2 kWh, while in winter, it is approximately 23.8 kWh. This provides a more effective method for rapidly assessing the energy consumption of mechanical ventilation in the future.
