The Design and Experiments of the High Power Mirror Transmission System for Millimeter Wave Radiation

This article details the development and testing of a 94 GHz quasi-optical Gyrotron transmission line including four mirrors, specifically designed for millimeter wave radiation. The advantage of using W-band millimeter waves lies in their ability to transmit microwave energy effectively and focus beam energy precisely due to their short wavelength and placement within the atmospheric window. By employing a vector diffraction integral method, we have designed a reflective system comprising four mirrors. This ensures that the electromagnetic wave energy emitted by the Gyrotron meets the specific needs of millimeter wave application testing. Furthermore, to facilitate high-power microwave radiation, our design includes a Cassegrain antenna structure. The model of the mirror transmission system is built using the Altair Feko software to simulate the electromagnetic wave propagating in free space. Experimental findings validate that the four mirrors transmission system is in accord with the preliminary design specifications.
